The EU AI Act is set to be the world’s first comprehensive law regulating artificial intelligence. It aims to balance innovation and ethical use of AI, protecting fundamental rights and safety while fostering development. The final draft of the Act was released in January 2024. The European Parliament and Council reached a provisional agreement on December 9, 2023. Formal adoption and implementation are expected in late 2024 or early 2025.
